As many of you already know (or now know), I love animals and enjoy going to zoos to photograph them. The Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington DC is an amazing (and free) place that I like to visit at least once a year. Every time I go, I try to capture something a little different and unique from last time.

While I was in DC, I also stopped by the Smithsonian Natural History Museum to check out some prehistoric animals and expensive jewelry.

This is a great example of how important white balance is. In more or less, white balance controls how warm or cool an image appears. The top image has a warmer white balance while the bottom image has a cooler white balance. It's amazing how much the white balance can change the look of a picture. Which one do you prefer?
